Standing Room
I firmly believe the Athens Olympic Games will be a resounding success because it will be standing room only at the Olympic Stadium when the games kick off on Friday August 13th.
Why ? Because today the Athens organisers (ATHOC) have cancelled a contract with an Australian company (Starena) for 75,000 seats to fill the Olympic Stadium and Indoor Arena. No seats ... you can't sit down ... so theres standing room only eh ? (tongue in cheek of course).
Some have cited the dissapointment (disapproval even) expressed by ATHOC because Australia chooses to protect and advise it's citizens when they travel overseas by issuing a travel warning.
What's even more astounding about all of this is that construction is far behind schedule already. Now they're going to make it even harder for themselves. They are thier own worst enemies in this respect.
Some advice for ATHOC, get on with the job, live it, live the dream and deliver a spectacular games. Sydney had to live with criticism as do all host cities .... just get on with it.
