Port Macquarie and Crescent Head
A big wind came up last night. It was a classic southerly buster and blew about the house quite violently all night. Today I awoke to more bad news from South East Asia. The wind was blowing harder still.
We took David over to Wauchope to send him back to his father at Tascott. He will go and stay with his cousins in Queanbeyan over the next week or so. After that we decided that we'd go for a drive to Crescent Head and given the weather that was the best thing to do. The day was sunny enough but the wind made swimming an unattractive option. We got back to Port Macqaurie about 10:30 then set off again for Crescent Head.
We encountered some banked up traffic about 1 kilometre from the turn off for Crecent Head so it wasn't too bad. At Crescent Head we got some grilled fish and sat by the waterfront having some lunch. We then went back to what I'm calling "the best bakery since Beechworth Vic". The apple turnovers and cream and the cream buns were just perfect. I've made a note to go there next time we are up that way - it's worth the 20 klms to drive off National 1.
We drove up to the lookout and nearly got flipped over by the wind. It was howling up there. It blew me back into the car when I got out at one stage. Theres a few photos from the town which I will post up here soon.
Tonight we went to the Westport Bowling Club for dinner. It was good feed for very few dollars. The view from the club is excellent - looking out over the inner harbour of Port Macquarie.
Thats all for today .... looking forward to a good nights sleep.
