Bushfires continue to burn across Victoria and South Australia this weekend as temperatures again climb above 40 degrees celcius.

This fire is near Erica (north of Moe) in the eastern Victorian region of Gippsland. It was possibly started by lightning strikes during a dry thunderstorm on Friday night.

Bushfires are a common part of Australian life during the summer months and so far this season there have been several major outbreaks across the south eastern part of the continent.

On January 1st, large destructive bushfires swept across New South Wales, at Woy Woy near Sydney, and at Junee in the south western area of the state.
