Whats the Difference

I wonder, what is the difference between a Big Mac and a Doner Kebab ?

After thinking about this for a minute, and thats about all it took, the main difference is that one is a product of a Multinational American Corporation, and the other is a food from the Middle East.

Has anyone ever thought that the current furore over Australians overeating or indulging in a Big Mac could have more to do in fact with the country of origin.

You don't hear anyone complaining or campaigning against the fat dripping from the end of a Doner Kebab roll do you ? But package your product, with nutritional information, show the world you care about health issues, employ millions of people worldwide, help minorities find work, and support local communities ... and you can bet your life Latham and his consorts will try and discredit it.

Labour "Comrades" ((tm) 2004 Garrett for Canberra) are more interested to making sure that it's perfectly okay to show a couple of lesbians and thier "concieved" child on the ABC's Play School program but are absolutely against showing a hamburger ad on a commercial network during the same childrens timeslot. Wheres the child abuse here ? Which fairies are playing with whom at the bottom of the garden ?

Overeating hamburgers might make a kid fat but it certainly won't psycologically scar them for life.

Is Labour really masquerading behind a public health issue just to continue thier attacks on American interests, by way of an anti American food, anti American alliance, anti American trade deal campaign, just in the hope theres enough fringe dweller votes out there to carry them across the line at the next election.

Oh and don't get me started on the Greens and Senator Brown !

Dramatic storm strikes Sydney

Dramatic storm strikes Sydney

More rain fell in Sydney last night in one hour than in the whole of this year so far. The dam is now at 48%. More water restrictions may come into effect soon.

Rogge won't call Athens Games the best

Read the story on GamesBids.com - the Olympic Bid News and Information Website

And neither he should ... not because of Sydney's success but because the city ... any host city should earn that title just as the athlete's earn a medal. Athens will however be a success and for that Ms Angelopoulos and co should be thankful indeed. She's right what she says in this story.

Winning one more for the Gipper

Win one more for the Gipper

Former US President Ronald Reagan will be remembered for many things and in many ways. But for some, the best way to remember him would be the establishment of Stem Cell research. Pulitzer prize winning columnist Ellen Goodman writes for the Cincinatti Post.

Surely we cannot afford to ignore this opportunity any longer.

It's back - and gone again

Friday June 4th, saw another great day in Sydney's history with the visit of the Olympic flame for the 2004 Athens Olympic Summer Games.

I will be posting a pictorial record of this day in the Photo Library soon, and will announce this to the SOV group and media contacts as soon as it is up.

Virtual Friends

A story took my interest whilst reading the daily technology news. This is a story about virtual friends and the people who cultivate groups of email pals and mail them during working hours. I've gotta say who would be that dumb to do this during work hours, I just don't know. Youc an read the story via the SMH below.

Welcome Online Owen

I have started a page for my nephew Owen tonight. He is a mad cricket and NRL fan and is always practising his cricket. I hope you enjoy his site.

Spamdexing

Technical link of the day.

Spamdexing

Spamdexing is computer jargon, a portmanteau of "spamming" and "indexing". It is also called 'search engine spamming' and refers to the practice on the World Wide Web of deliberately modifying HTML pages to increase the chance of them being placed high on search engine relevancy lists. People who do this are called search engine spammers.
