Microsoft is testing their new Expression Web Design tool, and it's an EXCLUSIVE BETA! Once 5000 signups are done, the beta will be closed off and no one else can participate. So far, this promises to be better than front page (think Microsoft's own version of Dreamweaver) so I think this is worth signing up for.

RIM Settles in BlackBerry Patent Case

Research In Motion has agreed to pay $612.5 million in order to end a long-running litigation lawsuit that threatened to shutter RIM's popular Blackberry e-mail service in the U.S.

The Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM put out a statement Friday saying it signed a definitive licensing and settlement agreement with patent-holder NTP and that, as a result of the deal, all litigation against RIM was dismissed by a court order this afternoon.

Intel Reports Revenue Shortfall

Intel (Quote, Chart) reported less-than-stellar news ahead of the Intel Developers Conference next Tuesday in San Francisco.

The chip giant issued a warning today that first-quarter revenue will come in below expectations. It is expected to be between $8.7 billion and $9.1 billion, as compared to its earlier forecast of between $9.1 billion and $9.7 billion.

Microsoft made a couple of big moves in the storage space on Friday, deepening its partnership with EMC and acquiring iSCSI technology from String Bean Software.

Microsoft acquired the WinTarget technology from String Bean Software of Montgomery Village, Md. WinTarget is an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) storage area networking (SAN) solution designed and optimized for the Windows platform. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
